Upstream: Peoples Mill

J H Tysor Mill - 3 on map

I believe this must be the same site on which the Woody Dam stands today, about halfway between Pittsboro-Goldston Road and US 15-501. The prior mill must have been the mill built by Oran and Jordan Tysor as described in an agreement recorded at CDB AO, pg 351 (1857). As described, it was to be a flouring, grist and saw mill. This was also probably the site on which Aaron Evans's Mill once stood (CDB D, pg 101; Chat Ct Min Nov 1779 & May 1777); Evans apparently sold it to Richard Kennon. Kennon sold land straddling the Rocky River to Nathan Stedman (CDB U, pg 236) which may have been a mill site.
